Artist:
Randy Crawford
From the voices of the 70s and 80s, Randy Crawford’s fiery, emotional voice stood out because of her ability to tell moving stories in just one song.
A successful jazz and RnB singer, Randy Crawford burst onto the scene in 1979 with Street Life, the song she fronted with The Crusaders. It was a transatlantic hit and became one of her signature songs.
The following year, Randy had another hit with One Day I’ll Fly Away. Joe Sample, who co-wrote both songs, said of Randy “The singers I admire – Johnny Cash, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra – have an effortless ability to mean a lyric, to keep it clear and clean so that your hair stands on end for the song, not because the singer's messing about with it. Crawford has always been able to do that.”
Randy’s career has been blessed with songs that have become soul standards, which have all been lovingly compiled on The Best Of.
