Artist:
When three young musicians spent a summer together in Nashville writing songs, the dazzling result was the band Lady Antebellum.
Their self titled debut album has scored the trio the Academy of Country Music's Top New Group award and is the amalgamation of classic country, R&B soul and 70s singer-songwriter honesty.
The duet of vocals between Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley intertwine and harmonise throughout the album and give perspective, as well as light and shade to the songs.
The tone of the album varies from the fun and upbeat Looking For A Good Time to the reminiscent and sombre All We'd Ever Need and the romantic Can't Take My Eyes Off You. While the theme of lost love threads through the songs, there is a break to the pattern with I Run To You which grapples with issues of prejudice and escaping the rat race.
Lady Antebellum has begun a sure and steady rise to stardom, and they're going to have fun while they're at it.
