Americana is the 34th studio album from legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young and his first collaboration with the band Crazy Horse in nearly nine years. It's also the first since 1996 featuring the band's full line up (Billy Talbot, Ralph Molina and Poncho Sampedro).
This collection of American folk songs – protest songs, murder ballads and camp-fire songs, passed down as universal or cautionary tales for the everyman – are part of the fabric of American culture and are just as powerful today, in times of economic and social upheaval, as when they were written. Some of these compositions, like Tom Dooley and Oh Susannah were written in the 1800s, while others, like Woody Guthrie's This Land Is Your Land and The Silhouttes's doo-wop hit Get A Job, are mid 20th-century folk classics.
All of the songs have been re-arranged, including the inclusion of electric guitar, by Young and Crazy Horse. You've never heard a version of She'll Be Coming Round The Mountain quite like this!
