Biography:
Margaret Fulton is the Queen of Australian cooking and one of the biggest culinary heavyweights in the world.
Margaret pioneered food journalism in Australia. Through her articles in Woman’s Day magazine, she inspired millions of Australian housewives to break out of the usual ‘meat and three vegetables’ dinner and try more creative dishes. She strongly influenced the spread of cuisine from international places like Spain, Italy, India and China in Australian homes.
In 1983, she was awarded an OAM (Medal of the Order of Australia) and later on she was also named as an Australian Living National Treasure by the National Trust of Australia.
The Margaret Fulton Cookbook is her most outstanding legacy. It was first published in 1968 and still remains an indispensible kitchen favourite today. Other renowned cookbooks include Margaret Fulton Christmas and Margaret Fulton Favourites.
Generations of cooks are still discovering new and exciting ways to create magic in the kitchen through inspiration and example found in Margaret. As the first lady of Australian cooking, her transformation of cuisine and international influence will still be felt for generations to come.
